Infants Know Their Mother's Scent
One baby may seem like all the other babies in a hospital nursery room, but to the mothers, the babies are as individual as their fingerprints. Very early on, a mother recognizes her baby from facial expressions, movement, cries and the feeding schedule. They know their own children from the way they cuddle in their arms and stare into their faces. Mothers know their babies; never realizing part of that recognition equation has to do with the way babies smell and the way their babies respond to them.
